Five Points Fire Company Fundraiser May 12th & 13th

Five Points Fire Company Fundraiser May 12th & 13th

The dedicated men and women of Five Points Fire Company, Station 17, will be holding their first Craft & Vendor Fair on Saturday May 12th, from 9AM – 4PM.

There will plenty to do, see and experience all while you help them raise money to support their mission of prevention and saving lives. The members of Five Points serve the Five Points area of Ashley, Bellemore, Richardson Park, Glynrich and Elmhurst, You will also be able to purchase your very fresh, Mother’s Day Flowers on site.

For the kids, they’ll be plenty of food, games and what every little one wants; Big Red Fire Trucks will be on display.

All of the areas local merchants will be on hand showcasing their products and services including us, Buckley’s Auto Care. We look forward to helping out our long time friends, supporters and neighbors of Station 17. With recent budget cuts throughout the state, volunteer organizations such as Five Points Fire Company will have a more difficult time maintaining their apparatuses. Just a fully equipped EMT Unit can run $150,000 or more. And you know that an oil change on a Fire Truck doesn’t come with a $21.95 Coupon price! It’s expensive. So, can you help?

Buckley’s Customer Spotlight – Yarn N Yummies By Patricia Morley

Buckley’s Customer Spotlight – Yarn N Yummies By Patricia Morley

afghan by patricia morleyPatriotism at it’s best. Patricia Morley of Yarn N’ Yummies, says that she makes hand-crafted heirlooms for “babies of any age”. So I guess there is no age limit to Pat’s client base. But her most proud products are the ones she makes for the families of troops and loved ones in Afghanistan. Here is an example of her “afghan for Afghanistan” – She is regularly contacted by others to make these custom pieces for those that as she says, “want to send a little love, comfort and warmth” to those away from home. All this while she holds down a position as a secretary for a large Wilmington law firm.

Now, I’m not one who can say with confidence that I know a good stitch when I see one, but as I look at this one example of Pat’s work, I notice that there seems to be multiple patterns woven into one afghan. That is talent in my eyes. And how do you measure the love that goes into that piece? You can’t. I bet that when that package is opened, those on the receiving end just have to be over whelmed with emotion.

Pat also makes homemade breads and other tasty items for busy people. Now, I haven’t seen or tasted her fare yet, but if it’s like this example of your crocheting, then my taste buds won’t be disappointed.

One of the best things about being a small business is that you get to meet interesting people everyday. And not just meet them, you get to KNOW them. Here’s a great example. Salsa Dippers, is owned and operated by a great couple, Beth Ann and Eric Ennis. I had no idea that they were the ones who make some of the absolute best salsa that I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. One day after servicing one of their vehicles, Beth Ann places two containers in the van and says “give a try”. Wow! I’m hooked. Take a quick read about Beth Ann and Eric and how they started their own “small business”…
